NBA: Ja Morant leads the Memphis Grizzlies to victory, while Stephen Curry leads the Golden State Warriors to defeat.

Ja Morant led the Memphis Grizzlies to a 129-122 victory over the Houston Rockets on Friday with a game high 49 points.

Memphis trailed by 16 in the second quarter prior to actually taking the lead in the third when Morant scored 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting.In the 4th quarter, he had a game-high 8 assists & blocked two shots as Houston managed to keep things close.

 In the meantime, the Golden State Warriors suffered their first defeat of the season against the Denver Nuggets.

Last season’s MVP Nikola Jokic scored 26 pts as part of a triple-double as the Nuggets defeated the Warriors 128-123.

Stephen Curry scored a game-high 34 pts for the Warriors, who defeated the Nuggets in the opening round of the Western Conference playoffs last season.

Kevin Durant hit a game-tying three-pointer with 56 seconds remaining as the Brooklyn Nets defeated the Toronto Raptors 109-105.

The Nets, who were defeated by the New Orleans Pelicans by 22 points in their opening game of the season, almost let the game slip away when they led 100-88 with 5 minutes left.

Kyrie Irving helped lead the Nets with 30 points as well as seven assists, while Durant finished with 27.

Trae Young scored 23 of his 25 points during the second half and finished with 13 assists to help the Atlanta Hawks beat the Orlando Magic 108-98 at home on Friday.
